Hori Reveals Modular Arcade Classic Pro for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC

As spotted on the Hori YouTube channel, the company has revealed a new arcade controller for the Nintendo Switch 2 called the Hori Arcade Classic Pro. Unlike a traditional arcade stick, this controller features interchangeable control units designed to support a wider variety of classic arcade games.

The Hori Arcade Classic Pro includes four interchangeable options: a standard eight-direction joystick, a trackball, a paddle, and a Loop Lever. The standard joystick can also be switched between eight-direction and four-direction input by disabling diagonal movements.

The trackball provides mouse-like controls by allowing players to spin the embedded ball, making it ideal for arcade games designed around that style of input, including one of my personal favorites, Marble Madness. The paddle uses a rotating dial for games such as Arkanoid, while the Loop Lever combines eight-direction movement with a rotating joystick.

Of course, the standard joystick also makes the Hori Arcade Classic Pro useful for fighting games. Players could use it with titles such as Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Street Fighter 6, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Guilty Gear Strive, just to name a few.

Players can install the different units on either the left or right side of the controller, allowing them to create a control layout based on the game they are playing. That flexibility is easily the most interesting thing about the controller, especially for anyone who enjoys arcade games that were designed around more than a traditional joystick and buttons. Hori does warn that some games may not be fully optimized for every available control option.

The Hori Arcade Classic Pro also includes rapid-fire and rapid-fire hold functions, with adjustable speeds of five, 10, or 20 inputs per second. A button assignment feature allows players to remap specific inputs directly from the controller by holding the Assign button.

The controller connects through a three-meter USB Type-A cable and is compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch OLED, and Windows 11 PCs. PC compatibility is limited to games that support XInput, while the trackball can also function as a mouse. DirectInput games are not supported, and the controller will only work in Docked/TV mode for the Switch.

Hori has priced the Arcade Classic Pro at 39,980 yen, including tax. This is currently a made-to-order product, with Japanese orders being accepted from September 14 through October 2, 2026. It is scheduled to be released on February 28, 2027, though Hori has not announced Western pricing or availability at this time, but fingers crossed it make the trek over here. Hori has already released a number of controllers for the Switch in the West, so it’s a good bet we’ll see this released over here as well.
