Massive Steam leak exposes Penis Bird and the internet is obsessed

An arcade game about guiding a flying penis through dangerous airspace has become the unlikely star of a massive Steam achievement leak.

As Dexerto previously reported, achievement data for more than 80 upcoming and unreleased games appeared online through tracking website Exophase.

The enormous list featured anticipated games including Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, Fable, Minecraft Dungeons 2, and several apparently unannounced projects. However, much of the conversation on X quickly shifted toward a considerably smaller game called Penis Bird.

Exophase owner Mike Bendel said the leak appeared to originate with Steam’s API, explaining that achievements that should have remained private had temporarily become accessible. Valve has not publicly addressed the incident.

Players rally around Steam leak’s strangest game

Penis Bird began attracting attention after ForwardLeaks published a list of games affected by the apparent leak and added: “Bro what is penis bird....”

After discovering that it was a genuine game with a public Steam page, GameVerse reacted: “IT’S F**KING REAL.”

Other users pretended that the leak had spoiled one of gaming’s most anticipated releases. One begged people not to post spoilers, while another warned: “Don’t you dare put Penis Bird spoilers on my timeline.”

“Please avoid posting any spoilers of Penis Bird,” another user joked. “People want to experience it themselves and it’s anti-art to ruin it for everyone.”

Even the official Cult of the Lamb account joined the reaction, writing: “nooooo not penis bird.”

Penis Bird itself was not revealed by the leak. Its free browser demo was released on itch.io on August 30, while its Steam store page was already publicly accessible.

The upcoming 2D arcade game challenges players to keep its winged protagonist airborne while avoiding hawks, cats, environmental hazards, and narrow gaps. Players can also skim close to obstacles to increase their score multiplier and unlock different costumes.

It even includes an “Eggplant Mode” that replaces its mature character sprites with family-friendly graphics, allowing people to stream or upload videos of the game without displaying its usual protagonist.

The leaked Exophase listing contains four achievements titled Cat Scratch Fever, Limbo Legend, Medulla Oblongata, and To Completion.

Penis Bird is listed as coming soon on Steam, but its unexpected appearance in the leak has already introduced the game to an audience far beyond its original browser demo.
