Starforce - A fantastic 1980s Arcade shooter for the Amiga AGA via Acidbottle

Acidbottle is no stranger to IndieRetroNews, especially with the recent news story about two Arcade games for the Amiga, Defender and Centipede(beta). Well, today he's turned his attention to the 1980s arcade hit, Starforce! A new game that began with an early Scorpion Engine prototype, that later ended up being completed with modern AI tools that accelerated and finalized the process. To coincide with this news, Saberman has shown off the latest gameplay footage from the recent 1.0 build.

True to the mechanics of the original arcade game, players will pilot the Final Star through stages named after the Greek alphabet (wiki), dealing with a strict two-level weapon power system devoid of bombs or missiles. To heighten the retro experience, the game's pulsing soundtrack has been scored by none other than IM76, though a dedicated high-score track which was omitted from the current arrangement. Furthermore, fans of the relentless original can look forward to testing their reflexes against the game's endless loop structure, and potentially the legendary "Infinity" stage that challenges players long after defeating the Omega target.
