Taito classic Psychic Force 2012 has been announced for modern platforms from the Tokyo Game Show 2026 show floor. Originally released in arcades in 1998, the game made its way to the Dreamcast in 1999, while a PlayStation version was released later that year as Psychic Force 2.
The sequel to the original PlayStation title, Psychic Force, was one of those quirky fighting games that attempted to do something different. All fights took place inside a cube-like arena where combatants could fly around and move in literally 360 degrees. Dragon Ball Z-esque is probably the best way to describe the system. Whether you were dodging energy and elemental attacks from across the arena or getting in close for melee attacks, it all happened in the air.
AdvertisementSure, we’re getting the sequel, but the PlayStation 1 original’s theme song and intro are still burned into my memory, and I can’t get them out. Psychic Force 2012 will be released for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam sometime in 2027.
Now, if Hudson and Konami could just dust off Bloody Roar, we’d be set.
